The S.R.C. is a group of students who represent the student body and try to make the school environment a better place to be. They are the voice through which students can get their ideas and opinions through to the school staff and executive. They also provide leadership in the school body. Through S.R.C. meetings (held once a week) they discuss and decide on issues which the students raise. It is made up of three students from each of the junior years, 5 from Year 11 and 4 plus the school captains in Year 12. Each year elects their representatives in Term 4 of the previous year. Year 7 2009 will elect theirs early in the new school year. When you elect your representatives, think carefully about who you might want to nominate - who would be good for the year. When you vote, vote for who you think would have the necessary skills. We know that you might not have known many of the nominees for very long, but please try and vote for the necessary qualities. The school captains and vice-captains are automatically in the S.R.C. One teacher attends also, to provide guidance. We have given money to students who have represented the school in cultural and sporting events. We have also donated money and sold badges, etc. to help various charities. In 2002 members of the S.R.C. started up an Amnesty International group within the school. The S.R.C. is taken seriously by the school community as we have representatives on the P & C and the School Council. The Amphitheatre-Outdoor Learning Area provides a space for drama performances, year assemblies, etc., but it also provides much needed student seating at recess and lunchtime. This is another S.R.C. initiative. We also maintain a photocopier and phone for student use. |
